Because maximum load is available at any point in the stroke tool height is not critical. Toolsetting is usually completed in a matter of a few minutes. The long effective power stroke and the generous tooling area means better plant utilisation e.g. a 25 ton hydraulic press may take forming work from a 60 ton crank press.
